As a knitter I know there is nothing worse that knitting from a poorly
written or even worse incorrect pattern, publishing something like this can
have a lasting negative impact on a designers reputation that is one of the
reasons technical editing is so important.
I have a great wealth of
knowledge on knitting techniques from cables, to fair isle and it is this
experience that has lead me to offer a technical editing service.
I have 2 services I offer;
Service 1
This service is offered at a flat fee. I don’t check any of the numbers
or whether stitch counts match the sizing given etc. I do however check the following;
-
Pattern conforms
to style sheet
-
Spelling and
Grammar is correct
-
All required
information to complete the pattern is given, this includes abbreviations and
the finishing instructions
-
The general
pattern structure and clarity makes sense i.e. the order it is constructed.
Service 2
This service is charged at an hourly rate, it includes everything listed
in service 1 plus the following checks are done please note I do not rewrite
the pattern I mark it and make suggestions, if I full re-write is required
please let me know;
-
All numbers with
in the pattern are checked; Pattern shaping, repeats, row counts etc.
-
The final
measurements match the information provided.
-
Pattern sizing
conforms to standards.
I am happy to work with both independent designers and companies and can
tailor the service to meet your needs;
My turn around time usually starts at 1 week depending on the work
involved and your requirements. On reviewing your requirements and work I will
provide an upper end quote however I will track my time, you will not be
charged for time not spent.
If you would like to discuss further please contact me, I will always
respond within 24 hours.
Its a nice blog.Thanks a lot..
